When Is A General A Child?

Hungry - Day 5

"... Truly I say to you, unless you are converted and become like children, you will not enter the kingdom of heaven. Whoever then humbles himself as this child, he is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven..." Matthew 18:3-4

Jesus wants us to seek him, to ask questions and knock on Heaven's doors. God said he would help us find what we are searching for, he would answer when we ask him questions, and he would open the doors for us if we would knock (Matthew 7:7) but he said we must come with a heart as innocent as a child.

A general must have childlike faith in order to enter the Kingdom of God. I kept trying to make sense out of everything, according to what I already knew but my knowledge was killing me. God was trying to give me new revelation but I had to be willing to hear it even when it conflicted with my prior understanding.

Although many of the things I had previously learned were wonderful, others fell short of what God's Word was really saying and still others were polar opposites of the gospel of the Kingdom.

We must lay down all of our preconceived ideas and look at the Kingdom of God with the eyes of a child who is hearing a story for the first time.

I encourage you to listen with "new ears" and intensity. What you will most likely discover is that you've been hearing these things your whole life, but because they got caught in the old information loop, you could not see beyond their surface appearance.

Challenge: Do you take your faith at face value? Allow yourself to ask questions. This is not the same as questioning your faith. Asking questions helps you to cement your faith. Research scripture and get beyond the pat, traditional answers to find just how deep God's word goes. God loves to answer questions, so ask away. Resolve to believe with the wisdom of generals and faith of a child.
